Originating from Russia in 1910, this antique traditional Verneh wool kilim is one of a select few pieces employing a distinct repetition of key marital symbolism. Flat woven in high quality wool, the deep-yet-vibrant orange field design plays host to many finely woven, colorful chest symbols, representing a bridal dowry and good fortune. Unique to this piece is the subtle allusions to those same symbols repeating throughout the guard border, as well as the profoundly rare fringe tassels matching the dominant colourway of the rug (whereas many kilim rugs have off-white fringes for emphasis).
